I've always struggled with accepting the fact that I will always make mistakes. I used to fight it constantly, resisting the reality that I am not perfect. And then, this Ayah -a verse from the Quran- found me: "O servants of God who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of your Lord. He forgives everything" (39:53). It changed everything. It gave me a lifeline of hope that I thought I had lost forever.
I understood then that God uses different metrics than we do. He extends nothing but grace. His mercy is infinite, and His doors are always open. That was the moment I realized that whatever I had done in my life, or whoever I was, didn't really matter. What matters is who I want to be.
